Newcomb School of Ballet Studio Policies
Our School is proud of our reputation for preserving a strong classical tradition. Please review our policies with your child to be sure that the Newcomb School of Ballet is the right school for you. In an effort to offer all of our students and their families an organized and friendly experience, we will strictly enforce our policies.
Registration Fee
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $30 for all new students($40 family fee) and a $20 fee for all returning students ($25 family fee) payable at the time of registration.
Tuition
*Once online registration is implemented, all
tuition fees will be posted and due on the 1st of each month
Tuition is due before the 5th of every month. It remains the same whether it is a long (5-week)or short (3-week) month. There is a $10 late fee for tuition received after the 5th. Students may be asked to sit out of class if tuition is not received by the 15th of the month.If paying by check, please place the students name in the memo portion of your check. The studio also accepts credit and debit cards.There is no deduction in tuition for absences or holidays. Classes that are missed due to illness may be made up in another class of similar age or level.There is a $10 discount for more than one child enrolled per family.
Payments may be mailed to the studio and must be postmarked by the 5th or late fees will apply. Make checks payable to Newcomb School of Ballet. Our mailing address is: 1006 N. 18th Street, Killeen TX 76541.
A check written for insufficient funds will be considered late, therefore late fees will apply. There is a $30 charge for all returned checks.
If a student must with draw from class, the Director must be notified immediately . Parents or guardians are held accountable for all fees due until notification has been received. A payment schedule may be arranged for families with financial hardship.
Students who choose to sit out a month must pay one-half tuition to hold that spot for one month only.

Parents
Our Studio has a coded security entrance system. Please learn the code as our students are not allowed to open the door!
The lobby area is available to parents while students are attending or awaiting for class to begin. However, all young children must be under the supervision of a responsible adult. Please do not let children play in the dressing areas.
Please be on time to drop off and pick up students. The studio is not responsible for your child before or beyond their scheduled class time.
Students who are not picked up from the studio within 15 minutes of the conclusion of their class time( with out prior arrangements with the instructor) will be charged $1 for every minute the instructor is kept waiting.
Students who arrive late maybe asked to observe class for their safety. Come into the building to pick up young students. For the safety of all our students, we ask that they remain inside the building.
Holidays
The studio follows the Killeen Independent School District calendar.
Inclement Weather
The studio will close if KISD cancels classes due to bad weather. Closings are also announced on KWTX -T.V. and KCEN T. V. If in doubt, Please call the studio and listen for a message announcement. (254-634 -6368)Or check our website and your email for any closings. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather may be made up.
Other
No food or drinks (except water) are allowed in the ballet studio. Students are reminded to keep their dressing areas and the lobbies clean.
Students should enter the studio dressed ACCORDING TO THE DRESS CODE with all necessary hair accessories and extra shoes, tights and leotards in a small dance bag. Student’s names should be on every item, especially dance shoes, dance bags, water bottles and book bags. Students who are not adequately prepared will be asked to observe class.
Killeen students, please leave dance bags in the dressing rooms. You may bring valuables such as purses etc. into the studio. Temple students do not leave any items in the restrooms of the CAC. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Please be aware of the fence when parking in the Killeen studio parking lot. Its closer than you think. We ask that as a courtesy to our neighbors , that you do not park in front of the Red Sea Baptist Church.
Classroom Etiquette
· Be on time and enter the studio quietly.
· Cover ups should be worn to and from the building. Please do not wear your ballet shoes outside.
· Do not talk in class unless spoken to by the instructor.
· Upon entering or leaving your instructors presence, please curtsey to show proper respect.
· Do not leave the classroom without permission.
· No gum or candy.
· Be respectful of others at all times
· Be properly attired for class.
· Happy Dancing!
Proper Class Attire
Students not properly attired may be asked to observe class.
Hair is to be pulled back securely in a bun out of the eyes and off the neck. Students with short hair should wear a head band or pin hair back with barrettes.
No jewelry or cover ups. This includes shorts and tank tops. Legwarmers and sweaters are only allowed in the winter months only with the instructors permission.
Primary I, II, III Ballet students wear pale pink leotards, pale pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Full sole shoes are recommended. ( Capezio leotard 1481C is recommended.
Ballet I, II,III , Intermediate and students are to wear black leotards, pale pink tights, and pink ballet slippers or pointe shoes. No Skirts . Full soled shoes are recommended.
Ballet II, III and IV students will add ribbons to their soft ballet slippers.
Advanced students wear solid colored leotards, pink or black tights and
pink ballet slippers or pointe shoes. Skirts are permitted, but please remember we cannot correct what cannot be seen.
Male students - White t-shirt, black tights, optional white socks, dance belt and white or black ballet slippers. ( black slippers should be canvas to avoid discoloring the marley floor.)

Performance Information
Performing in front of an audience is an important part of a dancer’s education. The Newcomb School of Ballet offers several opportunities for its students to showcase their work in a professional staging of a classical ballet.
Ballet Renee is the Newcomb School of Ballet’s resident ballet company. The company provides performing opportunities for its pre-professional students. Admittance to the company is by invitation only to students who are dedicated to the art of ballet. Yearly performances include the Nutcracker in December and the school spring performance in May as well as other performance opportunities.
The Nutcracker performance has turned into a yearly tradition presented by Ballet Renee. This production is also open to non-company in levels Ballet I and up. Dancers must be available to rehearse on Saturday afternoons and must attend all dress rehearsals and performances. For complete details see Ms. Gillenwater.
All of our students are invited to perform in our yearly Spring Performance . The studio will stage a classical ballet to showcase all of our students hard work.
· Students wishing to dance in this performance are required to purchase one costume Students will be measured for costumes the 1st week of January payment will be due by Jan 10th for students wishing to dance. (Approximate cost $65 to $70)
· Costume orders are placed only for costumes paid in full at the time of ordering. Costumes ordered after Jan 15th are subject to a $25 special shipping charge to ensure that they arrive in time. Once costumes are ordered we can give no refunds.
· Students must be available to attend all dress rehearsals and performances. (May 25-27) , Vive Les Arts Theater, Killeen)
· All accounts must be current for a dancer to perform in the spring performance.
